Richard "Rick" Johnson

Richard "Rick" Johnson, 55, of Hudson, New Hampshire, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Rick was a man of many talents, deep passions, and a generous spirit. Born into a family with roots in vaudeville and a rich appreciation for the arts, he developed a lifelong love of music and creativity from an early age. A gifted and prolific drummer, Rick devoted much of his life to music. He performed with several bands throughout the years and was most notably a founding member of the band Grief, established in 1991. His dedication to his craft and unmistakable rhythm left a lasting mark on fellow musicians and fans alike. Beyond music, Rick possessed a remarkable ability to understand and repair almost anything. Whether restoring an in-ground pool, fixing a bicycle, or tackling a challenge that left others scratching their heads, he approached every problem with intelligence, determination, and skill. He was also a certified diver and enjoyed the adventures and challenges that came with exploring both above and below the water's surface. Rick found peace in nature. Fishing, spending time outdoors, and appreciating the natural world were among his favorite pastimes. His compassion extended to all living creatures, and he was known for his extraordinary kindness toward animals in need. One story especially cherished by his family tells of Rick sitting beside an injured goose until it passed, ensuring it would not be alone. On many occasions, he would stop traffic to help a turtle safely cross the road. Rick had a gift for friendship. He made fast friends wherever he went, welcomed people with ease, and was generous with both his time and his heart. His quick mind, sense of humor, and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving mother, Diane; his sisters, Kelly and Kimm; his beloved Aussiedoodle, Brody; his two children; many cousins; and, as those who knew him would surely add, his cherished drum kit. Rick was predeceased by his baby brother, Christopher, and his uncle, Daniel, with whom he now reunites. All services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Rick's memory will live on through the music he created, the friendships he forged, the animals he cared for, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
