Hector St. Gelais

It is with heavy hearts that we share the following news. On the evening of Monday, June 1st 2026 Hector A St. Gelais, born in Alberta, Canada on Monday, April 10th 1933 to Wilfred and Elizabeth St. Gelais, has returned to the loving embrace of God and the love of his life Pat. Hector has been reunited with his father, Wilfred St. Gelais, his mother Elizabeth (Clermont) St. Gelais. His siblings; Marguerite, Henri, Simone, Cecile, Claire, Rene, Therese, Andre, Odile, Narcisse, Denise, Jeanette, and Armand. His loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Patricia (Forsythe) St Gelais. His legacy continues on in his loving family, consisting of; his daughter Michele (Mickie St. Gelais) Casey along with her husband Michael Casey, his granddaughter Jessica R. Martin along with her husband David J. Martin and their daughter (great-granddaughter) Julia P. Martin, his grandson Joseph G. Casey along with his wife Samantha A. Casey and their children (great-grandson and great-granddaughter) Raynor T. Casey and Alora R. Casey. Along with his daughter's best friend, whom he considered to be his second daughter, Cathy Pedrick, his only living sibling, Roland (Wes) St. Gelais, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. As the tenth of fifteen children, Hector lived a long and varied life. From becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States at age 7, to being a tailor for Liberty Country Wear and Ralph Lauren out of Lowell, MA, designing suits for stars such as Michael Jackson, Tom Selleck, and others. He owned, and worked alongside his daughter, the Cornucopia Flower & Gift Shop in Pelham, NH. He enjoyed and often spoke of his time serving the community as a crossing guard for the elementary schools in Hudson, NH. His love of God was always present in his heart, as well as in his actions. He found St Jude Children's Hospital to be close to his heart, and supported them through the years. He also served the church as a member of The Knights of Columbus, as well as as an Eucharistic Minister, which is something that he shared with his wife. In his free time Hector enjoyed tinkering in his garage, building and finishing furniture, gardening, and fishing. He particularly enjoyed fishing off of his dock at his prior home on Little Island Pond in Pelham, NH, and the jetty at Drake's Island in Wells, ME where they had their summer home. However, his main joy came from the time that he spent with his devoted wife Pat, his daughter Mickie, and his family. He truly adored his great-grandchildren, where he found more love and joy than he had thought possible. It was Hector's desire to not be mourned for his loss, for he is still with you, but to be celebrated for the long, happy life that he was blessed with, as well as the great love that he had for God and his family. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 8th from 9:00 am -11:00 am with a Service of Remembrance at 11:00 am in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, Hector had requested that donations be made in his loving memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
