Richard Crandall

December 2, 1940 - January 15, 2017

Richard Crandall, 76, of Hudson, NH, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Heritage Manor in Lowell, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 2, 1940 in Beverly, MA, son of the late Arthur and Mary (Musial) Crandall. Richard was also predeceased by a brother, Arthur Crandall. Richard was the husband of Diane (Jasinski) Crandall of Hudson, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Richard received his BS Degree in Plastics Engineering from the Lowell Technical Institute (now UMASS Lowell). He was an educator for over 25 years, many of which were spent in Lexington, MA, and more recently as a substitute teacher in the Hudson, NH School District. He also served as secretary of the DLKV Lithuanian Club of Lowell for many years. He enjoyed traveling, working with LEGOs, playing golf, following the stock market, all things related to mathematics, tracking the daily lottery numbers and affectionately referring to himself as Mike Wazowski. His greatest joy came when spending time with his eleven beloved grandchildren he was so proud of. Besides Richard's loving wife Diane, his family includes four daughters, Christina Crandall of Hudson, Suzanne Medina and her husband Malo of Guam, Melissa O'Meara and her husband Marc of Littleton, MA, Cheryl Bechunas and her husband Peter of Sutton, MA, one son Andy Szewczyk and his wife Lisa of Hudson, extended family members Gerry and Linda Boden of Westford, MA, 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Gwyneth, Madelyn, Aiden, Lillia, Owen, Kaylin, Ska, Thomas, Emma, Luan, one brother Paul Crandall of Mullins, SC, a sister in law Barbara Crandall of Beverly, MA, three God children, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday January 23rd at 10am in St. Kathryn Parish, 4 Dracut Road in Hudson, NH. All may meet at the church. Burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson, NH. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations be made to a charity that is very dear to the family, Nashua Center, PO Box 1269, Nashua, NH 03061 or at nashuacenter.org. Your donation will help provide the highest quality of specialized care, while promoting growth and independence for those with developmental disabilities.
