Gerald A. Dube
April 14, 1935 - May 2, 2019
Gerald A. Dube (Gerry), 84, of Nashua, died peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at The Community Hospice House in Merrimack. Born in Nashua on April 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Cyprien J. & Helen M. (Osborne) Dube. He is the beloved husband of Jean (Couturier) Dube, his high school sweetheart, with whom he celebrated sixty one years of marriage on April 26, 2019. Gerry was employed in various sales managerial positions throughout his years, including retail, real estate, furniture, and furnishings. He always loved interacting with people and was well-suited to this profession. In his earlier years, he owned and operated the East Side Cafe in Nashua with his father Cyprien. Working side-by-side with his father was time he greatly treasured. Gerry served his country honorably for two years in the Navy where he was assigned to helicopter duty in the First Navel District. Gerry was an avid New England sports fan and one of his greatest joys was spending time with Jean, watching and cheering on their favorite teams: the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics. Never “fair-weather” fans, they were always loyal to their teams. Above all, Gerry cherished his family. He was also lovingly known as “Dad” and “Pépère.” He lived for spending time with his wife, children, grand-children, and most recently, his great-grandson. He was a selfless man who was always thinking of others and lived his life putting his family first. Kind, loyal, patient, and always ready to share a laugh or smile, are all attributes that personified him. We all adored him and we will always carry his memory in our hearts. In addition to his loving wife, Jean, Gerry’s family includes Sandra J. (Dube) Roth and her husband Gerald M. Roth, Stephen R. Dube and his wife Laurie A. (Sweetser) Dube, and Shelley A. (Dube) McClain and her husband Elmer L. McClain. Gerry was the loving grandfather to Taylor J. (Roth) Barry and her husband Sean J. Barry, Kristen N. Dube and her fiance Zulehira Román Serrano, Aaron M. Lecomte, Spencer J. Roth, Alyssa K. Dube, Alexa J. Roth, Avery E. McClain, and Millie G. McClain. He was most recently the loving great-grandfather to Graham C. Barry. Gerry thought the world of his two brothers he leaves behind, William Dube and his wife Sheila, and Normand Dube and his wife Kathy. Enjoying vacations on the Vineyard and spending time with them were always very special to him. Also dear to his heart were Marcel Couturier, John Couturier and his wife Margaret, Raymond Couturier, and Terry Couturier. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins were cherished, as well. Gerry was predeceased by his brothers Robert (Skip) Dube and L. Paul Dube. Relatives and friends are invited to Gerry’s funeral mass being held at Saint John XXIII Parish at Infant Jesus Church, 121 Allds St. Nashua, NH. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10:00AM. The family is honored to have Gerry’s nephew, Father David Couturier, of New York celebrating the mass. Interment will take place at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Lung Society or the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
