Charles Small

Charles S. Small, 91 of Litchfield, died Saturday December 15, 2012 at Fairview Health Care Facility in Hudson. He was born December 22, 1920 in Charleston, ME son of the late Sidney and Maude (Hanson) Small. He was also predeceased by two brothers; Phillip Small and Donald Small and a sister; Clarice Small. Charles was the husband of Hattie (Rackliff) Small of Litchfield with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW Post 5791 of Hudson. Charles was employed with Ingersoll Rand for 35 years and was a volunteer with the Hudson Seniors. For many years he played the harmonica with the Harmonica Saints of Nashua. Always the avid sports fan, Charles loved the Boston Red Sox. Besides his loving wife Hattie, survivors include four sons; Robert Small and his wife Beverly of Litchfield, Dennis Small of Litchfield, Richard Small and his close friend Sandy Tossel of Nashua, Charles Small, Jr. of Litchfield, two daughters; Roxann Ulee and her husband Charles of Nashua, Linda Small of Hudson, a sister; Ellen Pelletier and her husband Robert of Arizona, as well as 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held this Spring in the NH State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
