Stephen Gelineau

Stephen J. Gelineau, age 47, of Lowell, Ma, passed away on August 9, 2023, of accidental drowning while night fishing off the Hampton Beach Jetties. Tragically, he died doing what he loved best. Born in Nashua, NH on July 23, 1976, Stephen was the beloved son of Paul and Karen (Buckley) Gelineau of Hudson, NH, and the dear brother of Kristen Gelineau and her husband, Richard, of Sydney, Australia. Stephen was looking forward to meeting his nephew, Dexter, for the first time this summer. He will be missed by his aunts Maureen Buckley-Walsh of Mansfield, MA, Mary Buckley of Indiana, Fran Kolenik of Reading, MA, Henriette Gelineau of Franklin, MA, Barbara Huissen of The Netherlands, and his uncle David Gelineau of Milton, MA. Stephen is also survived by his many beloved cousins whom he took great pride in watching grow and develop into wonderful adults: Theresa and Cheyenne Buckley, Calvin, Aidan, and Maeve Kolenik, Fawn Ouellette, Summer Thornburg, Angela Gelineau, Gina Gelineau Huber, Maureen Gelineau, Christopher Gelineau and Jan Huissen. Of special mention is his dear childhood friend and fishing buddy, Dr. Keith Levesque of Hollis. From an early age the two were devoted to chasing down the “big one,” whether on Martha’s Vineyard with the family, casting in the Cape Cod Canal, South Padre Island in Texas, or riding the waves on Keith’s boat. Those were among his happiest days. Stephen graduated from Nashua High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UNH. He then went on to further his education with engineering courses at UMass Lowell. Stephen had a generous heart, a love of learning and a talent for writing, along with his keen sense of humor. He will be missed every day by so many who loved him. Following cremation, a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 4pm - 6pm in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson, NH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17th at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Road in Nashua. All may please meet at church. Burial will be private.
