Raymond Breton

Raymond Breton, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Raymond was born in Dracut, Massachusetts on July 25, 1931. He is the son of the late Oxeliphus and Vitaline (Martineau) Breton. He was educated in the Lowell School District. Upon graduation, he attended the Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical School where he learned welding, metal fabrication, and carpentry. At age 18, he was drafted in the US Army as a combat engineer where he learned how to build floating bridges to support the United States Armed Forces and their allies during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he spent the next 40 years working his way up the ranks to become a superintendent at Sonoco. His strong will, intelligence, vision, and independence helped lead the company into one of their most profitable years of that time. In his free time, Raymond kept himself very busy. During the summer, he spent time gardening, taking long walks on the beach and camping at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. In the winter, he enjoyed tinkering with his tools, creating beautiful wooden works of art, dancing with mom, barbecuing, but most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. Raymond is survived by and will deeply be missed by his six children: Dave, Dan (Mona), Don (Linda), Terri (Tom), Michelle, and Ray (Miyo). He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Daniel (Chelsea), Jason, Kayla (Josh), Lindsey, Christopher, Dylann, Logan, and one great-grandchild, Beckett. He is preceded in death by his wife Irene, as well as, siblings Rita, Anna, Claire, Anita, Simone, Willifred, and Georgette. He is survived by siblings Noella, Conrad, Robert, Leo, and Victor. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, June 5th from 2:00PM to 3:30PM with a Service of Remembrance at 3:30pm at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson, NH. Burial will be private. Raymond will be truly missed! We take comfort in knowing that his faith in God, contagious smile, and loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever!
