In Loving Memory of Mark Briggs Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Inspiration Mark Briggs, devoted husband, cherished father, and loving grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22nd. Mark’s kindness and laughter enriched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his deep intelligence, his love of family, and the joy he brought to every moment. Mark is survived by his wife, Debby Elwell Briggs, with whom he shared 36 wonderful years of marriage, both originally from Vermont. Together, they built a loving home in Litchfield, NH where they lived for the past 32 years, filling it with warmth and treasured memories. He is also survived by his son Jeffrey Briggs, who now resides in Wilson, NC and his son from an earlier marriage, Shawn Briggs and his wife Katie of Bennington, VT. Mark’s legacy is carried on by his four beloved grandchildren: Wyatt, Rhyse, Vivs, and Paisley. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, delighting in their laughter and cherishing every moment spent with them. Mark is also survived by his two younger brothers, Dan and Kevin Briggs, both of Bennington, VT. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ted and Catherine Senecal Briggs, whom he has now joined in heaven. Mark’s love for his family and friends was evident in all he did, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched. His memory will forever be treasured, and his presence deeply missed. We celebrate Mark’s remarkable life and the countless ways he made the world brighter. May his soul rest in peace, and may we find comfort in the memories we shared with him. Early in his career, Mark played keyboards and vocals in the rock band Fanfare, touring across the US, sharing his love of music with audiences nationwide. After returning to Bennington, he opened Distinctive Photographic Services, establishing himself as a professional photographer, capturing hundreds of wedding ceremonies and senior portraits. Mark later retired as Director of Customer Support from Omtool in 2001 and went on to start Falcon Eddy Studios, where he worked as an audio engineer and mastered musical albums. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed auditing classes at MIT and teaching himself foreign languages, always seeking new knowledge and experiences. One of his deepest passions was ancestry and mapping his family tree, a pursuit that connected him to generations past and enriched his understanding of his heritage. Mark was born in Bennington, VT where he attended St. Francis de Sales School and later graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1972 . In addition to his immediate family, Mark is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were touched by his warmth and humor. In recent years, Mark had gotten the travel bug. Mark and Deb ventured to Alaska twice. They visited his son Jeffrey in Wichita Kansas. They visited Nashville and attended a business celebration with Deb’s work in Monte Carlo; on the way home, they stopped in Paris for a couple of days. Their house has numerous photos Mark took of their travels, and these will be cherished memories. We will be having a Celebration of Life in Bennington, VT on Friday, May 1 from 1-3PM at the Charlie Boyle Carriage Barn (Annex behind the Elk’s Lodge) located at 125 Washington Ave., Bennington, VT. As this is a Celebration of Life, plants or potted flowers are preferred. Please come with a memory or story to share. The Litchfield Police were the first responders and there for Debby during this tragic time.
