Janice Maureen Macneil

Janice Maureen (Stokes) Macneil passed away peacefully at her home in Londonderry, NH on May 23, 2024. Janice was beloved and survived by her husband of 51 years Steven D. Macneil of Londonderry, NH and her two children: Leigh N. Macneil of Dallas, TX and Keith A. Macneil of Londonderry, NH. Janice will be reunited with her dearly missed youngest son, Aaron, who passed away in 1995 at the age of 4. One of her greatest joys was spoiling and buying too many presents for her 4 grandchildren Kaylyn A. Moore and Liam G. Macneil of Londonderry, NH, Gianna N. and Talia R. Macneil of Dallas, TX and 2 great-grandchildren Aaron D. and Andrew M. Moore of Londonderry, NH. She is also survived by her loving daughters-in-law Renee (Tyzbir) Macneil of Dallas, TX and Angela (Roth) Macneil of Londonderry, NH. Janice was born on Feb. 11, 1953 in Winchester, MA to Daniel F. and Frances M. (Shea) Stokes both of Stoneham, MA. She was an only child but growing up she was surrounded by many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. A lifelong New Englander, she spent her early childhood in Woburn, MA before her family settled in Stoneham where she would graduate from Stoneham High School Class of 1971. Her thirst for knowledge pushed her to receive multiple degrees in the Health and Science field. She began her academic journey in 1983 at Middlesex Community College earning her Associates in Liberal Arts and Sciences. In 1987, she received her Bachelor of Sciences in Health Education from UMass Lowell. Janice earned her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rivier College in 1996. Janice’s love for learning soon turned into a desire to give back. Her professional career started as a Health educator at Lowell High School, Masconomet Regional High School and then Fairgrounds Junior High School in Nashua, NH. Her diverse skills in the mental health field found her serving as a Senior Crisis Intervention Counselor at the Nashua Youth Council working with emotionally handicapped, abused, and troubled children. Janice would serve and later retire from the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester as an in-home family Crisis Intervention Counselor. Janice will always be remembered for her love of family. For generations to come she will always be remembered for her smile, her ability to hide from a camera, her twisted humor, making too much food during the holidays, always worrying about her kids and grandkids, and most of all the love that she shared with the world. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00am - 10:00am on Wednesday May 29th in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson, NH. Following visitation, there will be a funeral procession to Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua, NH for a 10:30am Graveside Service.
