Elaine Lavoie

Elaine T. (Fontaine) Lavoie of Hudson, NH passed away peacefully on December 27, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born in Nashua, NH on May 14, 1932. She is the daughter of the late Yvonne (Prince) (Fontaine) Salter and the late Victor Fontaine. Elaine was a homemaker for many years taking care of her four children and also running a daycare out of her home for local friends and family. As her children grew older, she worked at H.O. Smith School as a "lunch lady" serving the elementary school children and staff. She was very proud of the care she put into the food preparation, and the staff especially loved the salads she made. Elaine was a fabulous cook and baker and often hosted many family gatherings and holidays. Elaine will be remembered for her fabulous pot roast and whoopie pies. She had a passion for shopping, especially at Kohl’s and the Christmas Tree Shop. She loved the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Dancing with the Stars. She also enjoyed watching her “stories”, Westerns, and QVC. Elaine looked forward to summer vacations on Squam Lake and in later years Lake Winnisquam. She traveled several times with family to Disney World and Cancun, Mexico. Elaine enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with all of her family, whenever the opportunity arose. Elaine is predeceased by her sister “Ronnie” Mellinger; her grandson Tyler J. Lavoie; and most recently, her husband of 65 years John P. Lavoie Sr. She is survived by her oldest son Paul “Lucky” Lavoie, her daughter Vicki Lavoie-Bacon, her son John Lavoie Jr and his wife Beth, and her son Jason Lavoie and his wife Denise. She is survived by her grandchildren: Christopher Ross, Jenny Marshall and her husband Lee, Shane Flora, Joshua Lavoie, Sara Lavoie, Amanda Quigley and her husband Andrew, Jeffrey Lavoie and his wife Briana, Rebecca Skowyra and her husband Rob, and Kayleigh Cappi. In addition, Elaine was survived by several nieces, nephews, and family members from the Fontaine side. Elaine was able to enjoy the company of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren right up to her final days. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31st from 9am-10am, with a Service of Remembrance beginning at 10am in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST., IN HUDSON. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.
