Bernadette Case

Bernadette (McGurrin) Case, 87, of Hudson, NH passed away on Thursday August 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1937 in County Leitrim, Ireland, daughter of the late Patrick and Kathryn (McFadden) McGurrin. She was one of ten siblings. Bernadette was predeceased by her loving husband Paul and her cherished son Philip. Bernadette was a beautiful Irish rose with an adventurous spirit. She immigrated to America at the age of 17 on her own. Leaving rural Ireland for the opportunities in New York City, she exchanged pastures for skyscrapers. She settled in New York City and worked at Meinhardt & Company. It was there that she met her loving husband, Paul. Bernadette and Paul shared 53 years of marriage together, raising their four children in New York and Hudson, NH. Later in life, she started a career in the community banking industry where she spent ten years with NFS Savings Bank in Hudson, NH before retiring as assistant branch manager. Bernadette was always up for a lively conversation and often entertained her friends and family with stories about her life whether about the Irish countryside, the dance halls of Manhattan, or her daily trips to the YMCA. She gave selflessly to her family and community. She was a volunteer for many years with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Bernadette was a longtime member of the YMCA and the Hunt at Home community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed tending her flower gardens, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Bernadette is survived by her devoted children: Maureen Grier and her husband Brian of Raleigh, NC, Vincent Case and his wife Irina of Lexington, MA and James Case of Hudson, NH, six grandchildren, Kathryn Grier, Philip Grier, Laura Case, Elizabeth Case, Ryan Case and Emily Case, and sisters Josephine Hogan and Vera Johnston and brother Stoney McGurrin. Predeceased by siblings Mary McGurrin, Kathleen Griffin, Una Findlay, James McGurrin, Anna Henry, and Nuala Kenny. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, 420 Hemenway Street, Suite 466, Marlborough, MA 01752. Following cremation, a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4th from 10:30am - 11:30am in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00pm noon on Wednesday, September 4th in St. Kathryn Church, 4 Dracut Road in Hudson. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.
