Barry Kaplan

Barry Lee Kaplan, 76, of Hudson, NH, died August 13, 2021 while visiting the Lakes Region of NH. He was born September 27, 1944 in Lynn, MA, son of the late Irving Kaplan and Hilde Berger. Barry was also predeceased by his former wife, Linda “Lynn” Kaplan. Barry was the beloved husband of Sarah (Farrell) Kaplan of Hudson. Barry had a strong influence in the school furniture field working the New England states region for 50+ years. He was an expert in this area and looked to as the go-to guy for information. He launched his career at Jarmack Company in MA and later started his own business, Equipment Environments, Inc., in 1979. Barry also proudly attended Suffolk University, where he earned his M.B.A. Barry loved helping and making people happy, he had a genuine heart of gold. He was a BIG TIME joke teller. He once said that because of all the goofy photos the family took of him, that people would only see him as “someone that sticks his head through cheesy tourist cut-outs and is eating all the time.” He loved to travel and researching the area and places to eat. He absolutely loved to eat at restaurants from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, along with places highlighted on TV shows like the Phantom Gourmet. Barry loved to watch sitcoms and was a sucker for love stories. Besides his loving wife, Sarah, his devoted family includes his children, Lisa Davy and her husband Dan of Moultonborough, NH, Joel Kaplan and his wife Jill of Rindge, NH, Matthew McCutcheon and his wife Sara of Gainesville, GA, Geoffrey McCutcheon and his wife Emily of Coachella, CA, an honorary daughter, Jillian Haffner and her wife Megan of Nashua, 10 grandchildren, Jerrica Davy of Albany, CA, Torre Davy of Moultonborough, NH, Bryanna Duval and her significant other, Jake Roy of Hudson, NH, Samantha Duval of Rindge, NH, Angela Kaplan of Rindge, NH, Emily Kaplan of Rindge, NH, Wyatt Kaplan of Rindge, NH, Shanea McCutcheon of Gainesville, GA, Elijah McCutcheon of Gainesville, GA, Emma McCutcheon of Coachella, CA, a great grandson, Xavier Duval-Roy of Hudson, NH, and his loved little kitties, Catfish and Bedbug. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 20th from 2pm - 4pm in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., in Hudson, NH. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations be made in Barry’s loving memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
