Obituary:
Maj. George L. “Skip” Roeder (United States Air Force, Ret.), 70 of Nashua, beloved husband of Natalie E. (Catalini) Thompson Roeder, died April 15, 2009 at the Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua. He was a resident of Nashua for the past 30 years.

Skip was born September 10, 1938 in Chicago, IL., son of the late Edward S. and Mae (Giacchino) Roeder. He graduated from Purdue University with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science in 1962 and later that year joined the U.S. Air Force. Skip was a Professor of Aeronautics and Computer Science at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs from 1966 – 1969. He answered the call of his Nation and volunteered to serve in South Vietnam at Tans Sanute Air Force Base from 1969 – 1970. Maj. Roeder’s last active duty assignment was at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA from 1979- 1983. Skip retired from the Air Force in 1982, after serving his country for 20 years. During his tour of duty he was awarded the Bronze Star, Joint Services (Air Force, Navy, Army, and Marines) Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medals.

Upon his retirement, Skip started a software company, Roeder Software, and worked for many years at Hanscom AFB as a Dept. of Defense contractor. He was a lifetime member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Nashua. He was also a member of the Nashua Elks. Skip enjoyed teaching, dancing, golfing, fishing, billiards, cooking, bridge, and most of all spending time with his wife and family. He loved his God, his country, and his family.

Besides his loving wife of 15 years, Natalie Roeder, survivors include a son; Ron Roeder of Lake Isabella, CA, Three daughters; Deborah Jones and her husband Don of North Jacksonville Beach, FL, Samantha Carroll and her husband Tim of Haverhill, MA, MaeJean Roeder of Concord, NH. A stepson; David Thompson and his wife Maureen of Newburyport, MA, a stepdaughter; Dianne Casey and her husband John of Amherst, NH. Eight Grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

Visiting Hours will be on Fri. (Today) April 17th from 5-8pm in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST., IN HUDSON. A Prayer Service will be held on Sat., April 18th at 10am in the funeral home. All may meet at 9:30am. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Nashua.
