Barbara L. Christenson of Nashua, NH died Sunday, January 24, in Florida.
She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on June 14, 1920, daughter of the late Rufus A. and Louise (Dubois) Maxfield. She was also the devoted wife of Henry R. Christenson, who passed away in 1993.
Mrs. Christenson received a bachelor's degree in education at the Lowell State Teacher's College and spent over 35 years in the public education system, teaching first grade in Orange, Tewksbury, Littleton and Framingham, Massachusetts. She also completed work towards a Masters' degree in education and, among other activities, coached a women's college basketball team. She was formerly a member of the Congregational Church of Littleton, MA.
Survivors include a son, Richard A. Christenson, of New York City, NY; two daughters, Julia A. Galli of Merrimack, NH, and Jan E. Mounsey of North Chelmsford, MA, a grand-daughter, Elizabeth, two grandsons, Eric and Aaron, and a great grandson, Eric, Jr. She is also survived by three sisters and a brother.
Visiting Hours will be on Thurs. Jan. 28th from 5-8pm in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST. IN HUDSON, NH. A Prayer Service will be held on Fri. Jan. 29th at 11am in the funeral home. All may meet at the funeral home at 10:30am. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Barbara's loving memory to the NH Veteran's Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276.
